A former Notre Dame student charged with murder was in a Michigan courtroom on Wednesday.

Patrick Mikes, Jr. is accused of killing his father, a Notre Dame alum, last summer at their home in Troy, Michigan.

Police say Patrick Mikes, Senior was beaten to death.

Investigators searched for two weeks before finding his body in a cornfield.

A pre-trial hearing was held Wednesday.

Mikes, Jr. faces up to life in prison if convicted.

He has pleaded not guilty, and his trial date is set for June 3.

The 22-year-old was double majoring in psychology and pre-med at Notre Dame before his arrest.
