Former Notre Dame backup quarterback Nate Montana, the son of former Irish great Joe Montana, was arrested Friday morning on the suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in Missoula, Mont. Montana transferred to the University of Montana in February.
Missoula television station KECI and the Associated Press reported the story.
Montana was arrested in August on misdemeanor charges of minor consumption at a house party in South Bend.
Montana played in three games in an ND uniform, all in the 2010 season. His most extensive playing time came in a relief role against Michigan in which he completed eight of 17 passes for 104 yards with one interception. He is vying for the starting job at Montana.
He spent his freshman season of 2008 at Notre Dame, transferred to Pasadena City College in 2009 before coming back to ND for the 2010 season.
