FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Officials say an overnight fire has badly damaged a Fort Wayne church.
Firefighters were called about 12:40 a.m. Monday to Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church on the city's northeast side, where they found heavy smoke coming from the building.
Deputy Fire Chief Mark Nelson tells WANE-TV (http://bit.ly/VrvpcU ) that firefighters had a difficult time finding the blaze because of the smoke and the building's size. He says the fire was primarily contained to the church's sanctuary area.
One firefighter was taken to a hospital with a minor injury, but no one else was hurt.
The fire's cause wasn't immediately known.
