An abuse of power landed the man who used to be a Penn Township's trustee in jail. Now his girlfriend could be headed to the same place.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office says Sarah Sharp has pleaded guilty to ghost employment and conflict of interest. Both are felonies.

Her guilty plea is related to the misappropriation of funds at the Penn Township Trustee's Office. Jeff Dean, the former trustee, already pleaded guilty and went to jail after admitting to paying his girlfriend with taxpayer money for work she didn't do.

Sharp's sentencing is set for October, and she's been ordered to pay back Penn Township almost $40,000. She could face six months to three years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
