GOSHEN – A Goshen man is headed to prison for a long time.
22-year-old Daniel Heflin was sentenced Thursday in Elkhart Circuit Court to 90 years behind bars for murder.
Last month, Heflin pleaded guilty to the March 22 shooting death of 26-year-old John Staub of Goshen and injuring another man.
Heflin was sentenced to 45 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections for murder and attempted murder and another 45 years for his involvement in a criminal gang.
Staub was found dead in a truck near the intersection of Indiana and Lincoln Ave. Police say it stemmed from a domestic fight at a party in the 600 block of River Ave.
Four people were arrested in connection with the shooting, although Heflin was the only one charged with murder.
