WINONA LAKE – Indiana Governor Mike Pence stopped in Kosciusko County less than 24 hours after giving his first State of the State address.

Pence gave the keynote speech Wednesday at the Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet in Winona Lake.

He talked about some of the same proposals he gave during his State of the State.

One of the big plans is for a 10% reduction in state income tax over two years, an idea that's not sitting well will some in the legislature, even with members of the governor's own party.

Pence tells WSBT tax cuts without sacrificing funding projects is possible if the state spends its money wisely.

“I think if we hold the line on spending, if we fund our priorities and make new investments in everything from roads to education to child safety and provide Hoosiers tax relief, I think that’s going to lay a foundation for really getting our economy moving.”

Some leaders are criticizing  Pence on education funding.

The budget increases school spending by just 1% a year.

State Democrats are also speaking out about the governor's plan to expand Indiana's school voucher system.
