Hit-and-run leaves Elkhart County teenager badly hurt

Okay, since I live right there, let's be clear: while it was night, there are street lamps on CR35, but not enough in my view for the High School entrance installed there where it happened. Second, our greatest problem(s) here are: intoxicated drivers and spoiled teens driving recklessly. I have lived her since 2003, and the problem has gotten worse by the very fact that money influences their thinking - I actually had one tell ME that their parents would pay for their tickets when I demanded an explanation from one who got stopped doing 57mph in a 25mph school zone (Northridge Drive.). Ethnicity, origins, helmets and refelective tape mean little to someone who is intoxicated, as all people get drunk. What matters is that the person who did this is found, prosecuted, and incarcerated. Period.

Yes, I do KNOW Zion personally. But sadly, the good child Zion that I knew will probably not be there with the TBI she's sustained - if she lives. Her personality will be altered forever. If no alcohol was involved, than that driver should be stripped of driving privileges for LIFE (as they are not socially responsible to being with) regardless. Its time we dropped hammers on these people who are making the rest of us pay for dearly - with insurance, with medical bills, and in some cases, with our children's lives. All other excuses for this are moot.
