Hundreds of people in our area had a hot Thanksgiving meal delivered to their doorstep today thanks to volunteers.
Groups from Hope Ministries in South Bend had an early start to the day as they prepared more than 800 Thanksgiving meals to be served not only at Hope, but also delivered to people at home.
Hope Ministries generally offers free meals throughout the year but since many food assistance delivery services are closed for the holiday, Hope steps in to bridge the gap.
“In some cases this is the only real big meal that they have and why not on thanksgiving?” said John Kabzinski.
Hope Ministries said they had more than 100 volunteers step up to distribute the food.
