INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana has redesigned its "In God We Trust" license plate to make it easier for police to read.
Bureau of Motor Vehicles Commissioner R. Scott Waddell unveiled the new design Tuesday. The new plates available in 2012 will show "In God We Trust" at the bottom of the plate with the U.S. flag covering the entire background.
Waddell says the new plate was developed with help from Indiana State Police and should be easier to read.
Indiana is also honoring Medal of Honor winner Sammy Davis of the Owen County town of Freedom with a license plate available only to him. Davis was awarded the nation's highest honor for his actions following a 1967 firefight in Vietnam.
