INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indianapolis woman whose 7-year-old son was killed in an apartment fire that police say was sparked by a methamphetamine lab has been charged in the child's death.
The Indianapolis Star reports (http://indy.st/V74h5t ) that 30-year-old Jessica Rogers was charged Tuesday in Marion Superior Court with murder, arson, neglect of a dependent and possession of cocaine.
Prosecutors claim Rogers was cooking meth Dec. 8 when fire broke out and she jumped out a second-story window without her son, Dreydon Webb, who died in the blaze. The boy's body was found about 5 feet from that window.
A judge entered a plea of not guilty on Rogers' behalf.
Public defender Jane Ruemmele was appointed to represent Rogers. She had no comment on the case.
