It's another step forward in the recovery of South Bend BMX Star and Washington High School student, Brett Banasiewicz -- he is now fully conscious and alert.
A post on The Kitchen's Facebook page says the 18-year-old is doing better as he goes through physical therapy in Atlanta.
The Kitchen is the skate park Banasiewicz built in South Bend.
Banasiewicz suffered serious injuries when he fell about eight feet on his head during a practice session in Virginia in August.
His mom said he even smiled a few times this week, something they haven't seen in six weeks.
