SOUTH BEND – IU South Bend is on its way to becoming an "All Steinway School."
Steinway sent the school 14 new pianos on Tuesday. They will be able to purchase the pianos over the next five years.
The dean for the School of the Arts says he's excited they spent a lot of time now tuning and maintaining their aging pianos.
“The older the piano is, the harder it is to keep it in tune and to keep it in shape,” said Marvin Curtis. “To get new pianos like this from Steinway and to get a new set every year means that our students will have the best. Hopefully, it will cut down on my maintenance costs too.”
The Julliard School, Cleveland Institute of Music, and Yale University have all been designated "All Steinway Schools."
