Workers at the Stone Creek Homes plant in Marshall County said they were laid off without notice and they did not get their final paycheck this week.
On Thursday new modular homes right off the line sat outside the Stone Creek Homes plant in Plymouth, but the employees who put them together are worked up.
"We were kind of thrown under the bus," said Zachary Bailey, an employee there for four months.
Bailey and his friend Randy Fort were told not to come back.
"They said they just got the call, shut down all divisions, we're laid off indefinitely," said Fort.
"Take your tools, take everything personal, we'll call you, we have all of your numbers," said Bailey.
Payday came and went. Their checks never cleared.
Bailey and Fort tried to work through channels with emails and calls to their bosses and superiors. They still don't have answers.
Thirty other employees at Stone Creek homes can't find their money or answers either.
"All the Stone Creek numbers, everything is shut off," said Bailey. "You can't email them or call them – can't do anything."
Bailey said he talked to a supervisor.
"They said the owner is nowhere to be found and there's no money in the account," Bailey said.
WSBT News covered a lot of ground in Marshall County. Crews watched as workers – out of the loop – drove to the West Markley Road plant to pick up their checks.
No signs. No warnings. Nothing.
Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter could not confirm the layoffs.
Officials with Marshall County Economic Development said they tried to reach the owner, but couldn't get through.
On Thursday WSBT called CEO Dave Ferguson to ask about layoffs and paychecks. Ferguson didn't pick up.
WSBT News tried to confirm the layoffs with ASI, a company affiliated with Stone Creek Homes, based in Nebraska. No one would comment.
"I basically feel like I've been used so he could make his money," said Bailey.
