KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A judge has set a $75,000 bond for a Kendallville attorney facing drug charges after he admitted submitting his obituary to a newspaper to fake his own death.
The News-Sun reports (http://bit.ly/Qn6ebc ) 43-year-old Jon Criss told Noble County Judge Robert Kirsch during his initial appearance Thursday that he submitted the obituary, with his named spelled John Chris, to keep people from "stealing" him. The obituary ran in The News-Sun and two sister newspapers.
Criss indicated he planned to represent himself. He could not be reached for comment Friday because he remained in the Noble County Jail.
He faces felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a synthetic drug.
