SOUTH BEND – There may not be much snow on the ground, but that’s not stopping people from making the most of it.

WSBT found some parents and kids enjoying the hill at Howard Park in South Bend on Tuesday.

It only took a few trips before the grass started showing through the snow.

But that didn’t stop them from sliding with or without a sled.

“The kids wanted to get together and play, and we’re tired of being inside, so we wanted to get out and play in the snow,” said Murray Weaver, who took his children sledding. "They can't wait for the snow to fall and get on their sleds and go down the hill. They don't even need sleds. They'll go down on anything just themselves."

Howard Park also has public ice skating available all season.

Many St. Joseph County parks haven’t opened for sledding or skiing yet because there hasn’t been enough snow.
