FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — The director of Fort Wayne's animal shelter says a badly burned kitten was apparently tortured with fireworks in a "horrendous" case of animal cruelty.
Belinda Lewis of Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control tells The Journal Gazette (http://bit.ly/KgjK7F ) it's likely that fireworks were attached to the kitten's tail because a rubber band was found on the animal's tail.
She issued a video Wednesday of the kitten, which was found Tuesday on the city's far northwest side asking for the public's help in solving the case. The video shows the kitten's badly burned paw pads and her burned-off whiskers. The cat also suffered several bad ulcerations.
