MILFORD – A Kosciusko County teenager is in the juvenile center after getting mad at his parents.

He took a baseball bat and machete, got on a skid loader and slammed into two police cars.

The 15-year-old unidentified Milford teenager is facing aggravated battery charges for using a Bobcat loader Saturday night to ram police who were chasing him. Police say it all started after the teen got angry at his mom over his bedtime.

"All of a sudden, I was like, what in the heck was going on," says Richard Hochstetler, who saw flashing police lights outside his house on County Road 300 West Saturday night. 

"There was just cops all over...probably 10 or 12 of them on the next road over," explained Hochstetler.

Those cops were trying to capture the teen who was on his family's skid loader out of control and armed.

"He did have a machete and a ball bat," said Sgt. Chad Hill with the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.

The teen took off through nearby fields while police chased after him on an ATV the boy's parents loaned them.

"It was completely not in any law enforcement academy training officers have ever had," added Hill.

Police closed in on the teen in a plowed field off of County Road 300 West where circular tread marks can be seen.

Hill says the boy jerked the Bobcat around and rammed the ATV, shutting it down. Two officers on it jumped off. 

Then, police say the teen drove out of the field and headed straight for two marked squad cars on the road.

He spun the skid loader around again damaging both vehicles. Officers inside were not hurt.

After an hour and a five mile zig-zag chase, police got close enough to pepper spray him. He gave up peacefully at the corner of 800 North and 200 West.

"He was tired and cold and just climbed off the skid loader which is a good resolution in our eyes," said Hill.

This is not the first time police have had a run in with this kid.

About two months ago, he ran away from home and police chased him until he got tired.

That time, they returned him safely to his parents.

After this latest incident, the teen was taken to the Pierceton Juvenile Center where he's awaiting a hearing set for later this month.
