KOSCIUSKO COUNTY -- Kosciusko County Commissioners honored a Mexico, Ind. man Tuesday morning following his efforts in responding quickly to a motorcycle accident last week on State Road 14.
Commissioners honored Stephen L. Wilson with a plaque Tuesday morning at the Kosciusko County Commissioner meeting.
Wilson came upon the motorcycle crash that severely injured two women as he was driving past. One of the women, Terri Penrod, lost the lower part of her leg in the accident.
Using first aid knowledge he acquired as a United States Marine, he used a cornstalk to make a temporary tourniquet until emergency responders arrived.
Wilson was working at a construction site at Wawasee High School and was driving home to his residence in Mexico, Ind. at the time of the crash.
