The following release was issued by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office Sunday afternoon:

A Larwill man is in critical condition after being ejected from his vehicle during an early morning crash in Kosciusko County.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and emergency personnel responded this morning at 12:36 a.m. to a report of vehicular crash on State Road 14 near the intersection of Packerton Road.  The driver, Jeffery Reiff, 25, Larwill, was located outside of his vehicle and was immediately airlifted by Samaritan helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, in critical condition.  Reiff’s passenger, Brian Lardino, 25, Silver Lake, was transported from the scene to Kosciusko Community Hospital in fair condition.

Kosciusko County F.A.C.T./crash team members determined that Reiff’s vehicle had been eastbound on State Road 14 and had left the south side of the roadway near the intersection of Packerton Road.  Reiff’s vehicle then overcorrected, causing it to skid to the north side of State Road 14, striking an embankment.  The vehicle went airborne and struck a utility pole, which caused it to overturn several times, landing on its top and ejecting Reiff who was not wearing a seatbelt.  Lardino was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

F.A.C.T. team members stated that the crash is still under investigation pending legal alcohol/drug lab results.  Reiff was still listed in critical condition at the time of this release.  Officers believe that speed and alcohol were factors in this morning’s crash.
