ELKHART – A 22-year-old man shot in the face Saturday night at North Lake Apartments in Elkhart has been identified as Sean Smith, according to police.
Smith was in stable condition at South Bend's Memorial Hospital. He was shot around 8 p.m. in the 52000 block of Brookstream Circle.
Smith reportedly invited the suspects into his apartment where the attack happened. A small caliber pistol was found in some bushes near the scene of the crime.
Two witnesses have been detained for questioning and the suspects have not been caught, according to our reporter. There is no suspect description at this time.
North Lake Apartments are near the intersection of County Roads 4 and 9, north of Elkhart's city limits.
