MIDDLEBURY – A Middlebury teen was hurt when his bicycle was hit by a pickup truck Wednesday morning.
Elkhart County police say the pickup was heading east on County Road 116, east of County Road 16 near Middlebury when the truck collided with the bike driven by 13-year-old Devon Yoder.
Authorities say the driver of the pickup was staying on the right side to make sure there was enough room for an oncoming semi when the collision occurred.
The pickup driver told police he could not see the bicycle due to the glare from the rising sun.
The accident happened around 8 a.m.
Yoder was taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital for head lacerations.
The hospital would not release a condition report Wednesday afternoon.
Police say Yoder was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
