A Mill Creek woman has agreed to serve time in jail and pay back more than $60,000 she embezzled from the accounts of her elderly and mentally challenged patients.
Tari Britton, 51, would receive one year in the LaPorte County Jail and serve an additional three years on probation on two counts of Class D felony theft.
She also must make $64,907 in restitution at sentencing next month.
LaPorte Circuit Court Judge Tom Alevizos took the plea under advisement.
According to court documents, all of the alleged victims were clients of Parents & Friends, a group that provides services to elderly and mentally challenged people from the LaPorte area.
Britton was a caretaker, which gave her access to the accounts of her clients, police said.
