MOORESVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Authorities are warning parents to examine their children's Halloween treats after two possible tampering incidents in central Indiana.
The Indianapolis Star reports the Mooresville School District posted a statement on its Facebook page Thursday warning parents to look for suspicious items. The school district took the action after the Morgan County Sheriff's Department reported a sewing needle was found in a candy bar before it was eaten.
Meanwhile, police in Columbus are investigating whether a piece of candy there was tampered with.
Police spokesman Lt. Matt Myers tells The Republic that detectives are looking into how a flattened staple ended up in a candy roll that might have been given to a 5 -year-old boy. He says it's not clear whether the candy was tampered with.
