ELKHART -- Taxi cab drivers and dispatchers are going to need some rest on New Year’s Day.
Phones rang almost non-stop at Ace Cab Company in Elkhart on New Year’s Eve.
“Chaotic,” was how dispatcher Jessica York described her workload.
They expected to get about 500 requests for rides, but if people didn’t call well in advance, they’d likely have to wait up to two hours for a cab.
“Some people know how busy we get, so they plan ahead of time,” said York, who was getting calls several hours before parties started.
Ace Cab says New Year’s Eve is its busiest night of the year.
“It's better to call a cab than drive drunk, that's the way I see it, I'd rather wait than get pulled over and get that ticket,” said York.
