A 49-year-old Niles man, Scott Parm, was killed early Tuesday morning while walking to his job at Shelton's Farm Market. Parm was struck at U.S. 12 and Third Street around 6:30 a.m.

Police said a 52-year-old Buchanan woman, Sharon Eaton, was driving east on U.S. 12 and, with a green light, had driven through the intersection when Parm was struck.

Michigan State Police-Niles Post released a statement indicating Parm was walking south and trying to cross four lanes when he was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
