Will the town of Osceola join a fire territory in Penn Township? Fire officials asked for an answer today.
Penn Township's fire chief says he has not received word if Osceola is interested in merging and forming a fire territory.
The chief went before the Osceola board last week, telling them Penn firefighters could not continue to be the first responders indefinitely for the Osceola area. The chief told officials he wanted them to make a decision on merging and requested an answer by today.
For three years Penn Township Fire has responded to calls in Osceola on a "good faith" basis while merger talks continued. Two weeks ago the Osceola board fired four of their top ranking volunteer fire fighters and requested Penn Township help, for free, while they re-organize.
