ST. JOSEPH COUNTY -- Police have released the name of a Rolling Prairie man killed late Thursday night following a car accident involving a St. Joseph County corrections officer.
It happened just after 10:30 p.m. on State Road 23 near Lath Trail in North Liberty -- that's just west of Potato Creek State Park.
Police say a pickup driven by Randolph Brown, 54, crossed the center line, striking the car of 24-year-old Britanny Ruggles of North Liberty, who had reportedly just finished her shift at the St. Joseph County Jail.
Police say both drivers had to be removed from their cars.
We're told Ruggles is expected to be OK.
Police say alcohol appears to be a factor.
