JASPER COUNTY – A Valparaiso man is lucky to be alive after his pickup truck crashed, flipped over several times and fell apart.

Indiana State Police say shortly before 9 a.m. on Monday, 35-year-old Christopher Bradley was heading south on I-65 just south of the Fair Oaks exit when he swerved to avoid something in the road.

Bradley lost control of his pickup, causing it to go off the highway to the left. He overcorrected, came back on 65 where the truck rolled over.

The bed of the pickup came off the chassis and separated from the cab as it rolled again and went off the road to the right.

Bradley was taken to Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer complaining of pain. He was wearing a seat belt which police believe kept him from being badly hurt.

The pickup was a total loss.
