BELLEVUE, Ohio (AP) — A northern Ohio school district that suspended dances after photos appeared to show suggestive "dirty dancing" at a high school homecoming has approved new restrictions for future events.
The Sandusky Register reports the school board in Bellevue is banning aggressive or sexually suggestive dancing and limiting what students can wear to dances. Outfits that expose a student's undergarments, midriff or excessive cleavage will be forbidden, and girls' skirts must fall no more than 5 inches above their knees.
Students and their parents will have to sign contracts agreeing to the rules before the youngsters can attend.
Superintendent Kim Schubert says the policy is aimed at creating a safe, comfortable environment.
Some students say they're unhappy with the new rules and may have a student-sponsored dance as an alternative.
