DUNLAP – A bomb threat at Concord High School forced an early end to classes Tuesday afternoon.
Superintendent Wayne Stubbs tells WSBT one person was detained and questioned by police.
Stubbs says just after 1:45 p.m., a call came into the Elkhart County 911 center about a possible bomb in the high school, and the high school resource officer was quickly told about it.
Students were evacuated to the football stadium where they stayed until the end of their scheduled school day.
However, Stubbs says there were delays on getting kids home. He says elementary kids, who are picked up last, were 20 to 30 minutes late, depending on their routes.
He says after police searched Concord High School, the building was ruled safe at 3:30, but because the all-clear came after school, some extracurricular activities were canceled. The football team was among those who did hold practice.
Stubbs says phone calls were made to all parents of Kindergarten through 6th grade students Tuesday afternoon, although parents may not have been home at the time to receive those calls.
He says early this evening, administrators were planning to call all students and their parents to explain what happened.
