VAN BUREN COUNTY -- A troubled nuclear power plant in southwest Michigan is back open, one week after operators shut it down.
A spokesman for the Palisades plant in Van Buren County says the facility returned to service just before 1 a.m. Friday.
Crews shut it down last Friday to repair a problem with the cooling water heat system.
They also repaired a main generator.
The plant will gradually go back to full power over the next couple of days.
Palisades shut down several times last summer and has been named one of the worst-performing nuclear plants in the country by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
