RAY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a 58-year-old township official died after a being struck by a combine that was hit by another vehicle in Macomb County.

The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens reports (http://bit.ly/s5zCSy) that Ray Township Clerk Kenneth Artman died Monday after a vehicle struck the harvesting machine he was standing near Sunday night and pushed it into him. Artman was helping to harvest soybeans.

The crash happened in Ray Township, about 30 miles northeast of Detroit. The combine was stopped when it was hit by a PT Cruiser driven by a 64-year-old Armada Township woman. The woman sustained what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say the combine's operator was unhurt, and they're investigating the crash.

Acquaintances say Artman took up farming after retiring from Ford Motor Co.
