EDWARDSBURG – The motorist killed in a fiery crash early Sunday on Redfield Road, east of Fir Road, has been identified as 24-year-old Evan Sobecki of Granger.
Michigan State Police in Niles say dental records were used to confirm identification. The records check wasn’t completed until Thursday.
Police said Sobecki was driving a sport-utility vehicle shortly after midnight that left the road, struck a tree and was engulfed in flames. Police say he was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
Sobecki was a graduate of Penn High School, where he played football. He also pursued the sport at Wabash College.
