Officers responding to a  Kroger Supermarket in Goshen last night say they found the store closed, the front doors open and about a dozen people trying to purchase items through the self checkout with no employees on site.

This happened shortly before 11 Thanksgiving night. The manager arrived at the store, which is at 209 Chicago Avenue, and secured all of the entrances.

"There were no signs of forced entry and no one was attempting to steal from the business," according to Tina Kingsbury with the Goshen Police Department. "Officers indicated that the store appeared open but no employees were in the store. It appeared that the locking mechanism on the door had not completely engaged. The patrons in the store, upon realizing the store was in fact closed, left without incident."
