HANOI, Vietnam (AP) — Police in Vietnam say a woman has confessed to dousing her journalist husband in gasoline and setting him on fire as he slept.
Colleagues of newspaper reporter Le Hoang Hung had feared he was targeted over his work, which focused on investigations into corruption or smuggling.
Lt. Col. Pham Van Tien, chief investigator of Long An provincial police, told The Associated Press by telephone Monday that Hung's wife was brought to a police station Sunday night and admitted killing her husband.
He said 40-year-old Tran Thi Thuy Lieu was being held for further questioning. The investigator refused to give more details.
Hung died Jan. 29 after 10 days of treatment for severe burns.
