GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A West Michigan man who hung empty chairs on his property as a protest against President Barack Obama's candidacy has received an unwelcome postelection surprise in his driveway.

Someone placed a white outdoor chair marked with "4 more years," ''racist pig" and profanities at the end of Ken David's driveway in Ottawa County's Grand Haven Township on Wednesday.

The Grand Rapids Press reports (http://bit.ly/PDZDrX ) the chair's back right leg was nailed to David's driveway.

David says it wasn't "nice."

His display of empty chairs went up at the end of September. It was a play on Clint Eastwood standing on stage at the Republican National Convention berating an empty chair, representing Obama.

An area diversity group has said David's display represents racist threats against Obama and should be taken down.
