MADISON, Ind. (AP) — A psychologist says an 80-year-old southern Indiana man is incompetent to stand trial in the fatal shooting of his daughter's boyfriend.
Psychologist Stephanie Callaway's report to a Jefferson County judge says Boyd Wright Jr.'s mental state has "deteriorated greatly" since his July arrest in the killing of 57-year-old Harry Harris of Madison.
Callaway says Wright would be unable to effectively assist his lawyers in his murder trial because of his mental state and says Wright might have dementia.
Police say Wright told officers Harris was dating his daughter and he didn't approve of their relationship.
The Madison Courier reports (http://bit.ly/tIQue6 ) that a medical doctor is preparing a report on Wright that a judge will also review before he decides whether Wright's trial proceedings will continue.
