CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) — A Purdue University student died of apparent heat stroke while working with a wildlife rescue program in the Cayman Islands.

Purdue spokeswoman Jeanne Norberg tells the Journal & Courier of Lafayette that 21-year-old Daniel Hamilton had just finished his junior year and was majoring in wildlife.

Hamilton was a 2008 Crown Point High School graduate and had been a volunteer with the Blue Iguana Recovery Program in the Caribbean Sea islands for only a week when he died Friday.

Pat Hamilton tells the Post-Tribune of Merrillville that her son developed a fascination with dinosaurs when he first saw the movie "Jurassic Park" and loved to visit the Field Museum in Chicago. She says he considered studying paleontology, but decided he wanted to work with living animals.
