Work to add travel lanes on Indiana 23 between Adams and Brick roads is expected to begin this spring, now that the Indiana Department of Transportation awarded the $7.5 million contract to Rieth-Riley Construction of Goshen.
Along with adding travel lanes, the highway will be widened to two lanes in each direction, with a continuous center lane.
Other work includes updating traffic signals and adding sidewalks. The state anticipates the project will be completed by the end of 2012, according to an InDOT news release.
This work is the third and final phase of a Major Moves project to widen Ind. 23 to four lanes from Granger to South Bend.
