INDIANAPOLIS —
The Indiana Election Commission is keeping Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum on the ballot. The commission voted 4-0 Friday to keep Santorum on the ballot after Marion County officials determined he had collected enough signatures. The county's Board of Voter Registration had previously disqualified Santorum for falling eight signatures short in the 7th Congressional District.
The board also voted 3-1 to remove Republican gubernatorial candidate Jim Wallace. Wallace says he will pursue all options available so he can run for governor but isn't saying whether he will go to court.
A former aide to Gov. Mitch Daniels presented evidence that Wallace had tampered with ballot petitions. Wallace denied those allegations.
The four-member panel is also hearing challenges against candidates including President Barack Obama and Republican Sen. Richard Lugar.
