SOUTH BEND – A South Bend man has died after a one-car crash Saturday night.
Just before 8 p.m. Saturday, police and medics were called to the 2900 block of South Twyckenham Drive in South Bend after a car driven by Shawn Eric McClellan, 44, hit a tree and utility pole.
Investigators say McClellan’s car went off the east side of the road, trapping him in the wreckage.
After being pulled from the vehicle, McClellan was rushed to Memorial Hospital where he was in critical condition before dying at 6:45 a.m. Sunday.
Police say speed and alcohol appear to have been a factor in the crash.
