SOUTH BEND – A South Bend man has been found guilty of murder after a 3-day trial in the death of Michael Mumford.

On March 30, police officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of East Bowman after getting a Crimestoppers tip that a dead body was in the home.

After arriving on the scene, officers found Mumford’s body lying on the floor.

Police said they also saw 35-year-old Andrew Wright, Jr. trying to leave the home and 54-year-old Patricia James was still inside.

Autopsy results showed Mumford was killed by blunt force trauma.

Wright was being held in the St. Joseph County Jail without bond and is scheduled to be sentenced November 9 before Superior Court Judge Roland Chamblee.

James was charged with assisting a criminal.
