SOUTH BEND — The city of South Bend has tied a record for the longest time between measurable snowfalls.
With only a trace of snow at South Bend through December 2, we took a look at some statistics to see how many days it has been since South Bend saw its last measurable snowfall. The last time South Bend saw a measurable snowfall was March 5, which makes 272 consecutive days without snowfall. This ties the previous record of 272 days set from March 11 to Dec. 9, 1948. With temperatures forecasted to be above normal, there is no chance of snowfall for several days.
"By midnight tonight, we will beat the record, since it's way too warm to have snow today," said WSBT meteorologist Abby Weppler.
The latest South Bend has ever received measurable snow is on Dec. 17, 1998.
