SOUTH BEND – Service on the South Shore line has resumed after all trains had to be shutdown for most of the day on Saturday.
A semi accident in Gary wrecked havoc on the tracks the South Shore uses.
The truck lost its load of steel on the tracks east of the Gary metro station.
No passenger trains were involved, but there was damage to the overhead wire and track. Passengers hoping to catch the train in South Bend were stuck waiting.
"It's pretty inconvenient, because I just got dropped off without knowing about this delay, so hopefully, I'm not waiting here all night," said Flynn Bradford, who was headed to Chicago.
"I should be okay," said Gary-bound passenger Jerry Bond. "But I wasn't able to do what I wanted to do today, You know, depending on the train."
South Shore officials say the normal weekend schedule resumes on Sunday.
