Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a go-kart accident in Warsaw late Monday night that left a Lake Station man injured.

Warsaw Police and Indiana Conservation Officers were called to the accident around 10:45 p.m.

Preliminary reports indicate that 24-year-old Matthew Franklin was operating a side-by-side Kandi Go-Kart in a field at a friend’s residence when he lost control while making a turn.  The Go-Kart rolled on to its left side smashing Franklin’s arm between the roll cage and the ground.

Franklin was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital and then transferred to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for injuries sustained to his left arm.

The preliminary cause of the accident is being contributed to exceeding the weight capacity of the machine and excessive speed.

Conservation officers urge everyone operating all-terrain vehicles and go-karts to follow all manufacturers’ safety recommendations.
