Ultimate sports bar … IMAX … gastro pub … and idea list goes on from the 11 contest finalists in the ‘Pitch Your Plan’ competition … each who want their idea to be the one to bring new life to the old State Theatre in downtown South Bend.
In its former life, State Theatre’s been a theater, a night club and a downtown staple. For the last six years, the historic building’s been vacant.
There were a few finalists who couldn't make it to the theater today because they were in school. A group of local teenagers hope to turn the building into a movie theater, museum and dance hall with a restaurant.
The youngest finalist, just 6 years old, who hopes to turn the State Theatre into a children's museum.
Now the 11 finalists will have roughly four weeks to work with a coach from the North Central Indiana Small Business Development Center to develop their ideas into detailed presentations, covering the business essentials of their ideas.
In June, after fine tuning their presentations, finalists will pitch their presentations to a panel … in front of an audience … at the State Theatre. The building’s new owner, Assaf Zvi Dagan, Banko Capital LLC founder/president, will be part of the panel.
The winning idea for the building will be decided next month and the winner receives $1,000.
