Detroit Metropolitan Airport spokesman Mike Conway says Wednesday many cancelations were made by airlines in advance of the storm. Conway says runways at the airport in Romulus and nearby Willow Run Airport have been kept open despite the snow, thanks to constant work from plow crews.
The Grand Rapids Press reports most early Wednesday departures were cancelled at Gerald R. Ford International Airport in southwestern Michigan. And The Flint Journal reports that some flights at Flint's Bishop International Airport had been cancelled.
Other cancellations were reported at Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport, MBS International Airport near Midland and Traverse City's Cherry Capital Airport.
