UNION PIER, MI – A suspected drug house in Berrien County has been busted.

Just before 6:30 Tuesday night, members of the county’s Narcotics Unit raided a home in the 15900 block of Goodwin Ave. in Union Pier and found marijuana, prescription pills, suspected cocaine and heroin and other evidence of illegal drug activity.

30-year-old Nicole Buckler and 34-year-old Ronte Smothers were hauled to the Berrien County Jail and charged with maintaining a drug house and possession of marijuana, their second offense for each.

The drug bust was the climax of a two week investigation into illegal activity at the home.

Two other adults were found inside the home at the time of the raid but were released with no criminal charges against them.

Buckler and Smothers could face additional charges after the Berrien County Forensic Laboratory analyzes the evidence seized from the home.

The Berrien County Sheriff Department’s Road Patrol and Chikaming Township Police Department helped with the investigation.
