An Elkhart County teen tried to withdraw his guilty plea in court this morning... But the judge wouldn't let him.
Then the judge sentenced 17-year-old Jose Quiroz to 55 years in prison with 10 years suspended.
He admitted to taking part in a home invasion on Frances Avenue in Elkhart in October. Police say 3 other teens and 21-year-old Danzele Washington took part.
They say the homeowner was taking a nap and woke up to sounds in his house. Police say he got a gun and cellphone, went downstairs and found some of them in his house... Some armed with knives.
They say the homeowner shot and killed Washington.
The homeowner has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
The other three teens face charges in the case.
