LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A troublesome bird known as the "traffic turkey" that caused a series of road tie-ups in Michigan in recent weeks is off the streets.

The Lansing State Journal reports (http://on.lsj.com/WLiNL5 ) the wild turkey was captured Tuesday by a Potter Park Zoo veterinarian after being stopped with a tranquilizer. He was blamed for blocking traffic in Lansing since shortly before Thanksgiving and evaded several previous capture attempts.

Zoo spokesman Jake Pechtel says the bird was taken to a zoo clinic for treatment.

Pechtel says the turkey "survived a lot already" — including a previous tranquilizer attempt that didn't work — and is expected to be OK.

The turkey drew a lot of attention in the area before his capture, and had a Twitter account and Facebook page set up for him.
